An extremely important white gold Patek Philippe single-button chronograph from 1928, undoubtedly the only one of its kind, is expected to fetch up to $2.7 million at Christie’s Important Watches sale in Geneva on May 16.

Created in 1928 on the eve of the stock market crash, the unique and complicated 1928 chronograph was a bespoke commission from one of Patek Philippe’s most important patrons, though his exact identity is unknown.

The cushion-shaped wristwatch, with vertically positioned registers and Breguet numerals, is the only known example extant of a single-button chronograph by Patek Philippe made in white gold.

As such, it’s perfectly possible that it could end up selling for more than $2.7 million, especially with the buoyant market for such horological masterpieces at the moment.

 In the watch world diamonds seem to make just about everything better. This Ref. 5839 Marine Troubillon High Jewellery watch is a diamond encrusted version of the Ref. 5937 from a few years ago. Breguet outfitted the watch case and dial with an impressive amount of diamonds, but still was able to retain that signature Breguet Marine watch look.

 The 43mm wide 18k white gold case as about 11.77 carats of stones on it. One of the neatest parts is how Breguet was able to maintain the coined edge of the case using specially cut diamonds. Also not the unique pattern the diamonds create for the bezel. On the dial smaller diamonds are set in the middle of the dial and don’t overshadow the hands. The dial itself is silvered 18k gold. Overall Breguet did a great job giving a men’s jewelry watch a functional face.

  Inside the watch is a Breguet caliber 554.4 manually wound tourbillon movement with the time and a chronograph complication. The watch has 50 hours of power reserve with special features that include a silicium balance spring and escapement wheel.

 The Alexander McQueen Iris Plexiglas Box Clutch is one of those statement pieces that’s sure to garner glances and comments and envy whenever and wherever you carry it. The construction is pretty simple considering its impact: molded plexigas topped with a Swarovski-embellished gold metal clasp depicting a skull sitting inside a fully opened iris bloom. Very gothic-chic (as the brand does so well) but with a decidedly lighter vibe this time. Features are basic but include a gold metal frame and inside there’s white leather trim. $2,295

 Valentine’s Day! If my informal research is any indication, you probably think of it as either your favorite holiday or the worst day of the year, but no matter which you choose, it still comes around once a year, every year.  No matter where I go in New York or who I talk to, once people find out what I do for a living, almost all of them ask me if I know where they can get a Celine bag, what I think of the Celine bag they want to buy and if I have a Celine bag myself.  Rochas isn’t much of a player in the accessories market, but the French brand’s handbag profile is steadily rising with increased availability at stores like Neiman Marcus and Saks. For some reason, perhaps because spring’s rococo lushness is just now hitting stores, the Rochas Colorblock Leather Tote and Rochas Scalloped Leather Handbag are hitting me just the right way. It takes a certain amount of confidence to make a dove grey and ivory bag and call it “colorblocked” this season when that term usually refers to some combination of neon and cobalt.

  But that’s exactly what these designs are – confident, restrained, endlessly elegant. They’re made for people who prefer to be a bit demure instead of all-out flashy. That may not usually be me, but in a season so endlessly filled with stuff, it’s nice to be reminded of the other side of the coin from time to time.

 Everyone knows the Celine Luggage Tote and the Celine Classic Box, but the Celine Bi-Cabas Tote has cruised along just below most people’s handbag radar for the last few seasons, largely the obsession of industry insiders and dedicated Celine fans. With its extremely minimal construction and huge colorblocking potential, the bag seems to be poised to make its biggest splash yet for Spring 2012. But what if you don’t want to pay over a grand for something relatively simple? Well, the Rebecca Minkoff Toki Tote offers the perfect alternative, but you’re going to have to trade leather for nylon. You do win a healthy dose of neon in that trade, so it might be worth it.

  I’m continually surprised by the huge number of Michael Kors bags that I see women carrying in every city that I visit. One of the most recognizable bags from the line is the Michael Kors Hamilton, which has been issued in nearly countless colors, sized and materials. The version above may be the most exciting, though; like other designers, MK is always giving back and after the tragic earthquake in Japan, Michael decided to help.

   MK debuted a limited edition Hamilton handbag in support of the Great East Japan Earthquake relief effort during Fashion’s Night out in Tokyo and to follow its success, the U.S. will launch this bag for a 24 hour period starting tomorrow, Monday January 22nd. The bag will be available only through a link from the Michael Kors facebook page and in select Michael Kors retail stores.
    The designer will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of the bag to support relief efforts for the Great East Japan Earthquake via the Japanese Red Cross Society. While many only give a portion of proceeds to causes, I find it entirely commendable that Michael Kors will give 100%.

   The bag is the coveted Hamilton in a deep berry-colored matte embossed python finish. A keychain is attached that will serve as a reminder of those in Japan with a series of MK logo and “Michael Hearts Japan” charms. Not only is this bag for a great cause, but it truly is a great looking bag

 In fact, I warned you back in May that Jimmy Choo seemed intent on foisting the Jimmy Choo Solar Studded Hobo on the fashion world, and it took a little longer than we (or the company, probably) anticipated to get here, but did you use that time to prepare yourself? To prepare your eyes to view…this? I bet you didn’t. Pictures of this bag were originally released with the Fall 2011 collection, so I’m not sure why it’s showing up on the Neiman Marcus arrivals page now, just when Spring 2012 is hitting stores, but I’m going to give everyone involved the benefit of the doubt by assuming that someone actually thought better of making this bag available for sale. I don’t know if it was the brand, the store or some crafty intern somewhere down the line who misdirected this shipment in a heroic bid to save us all, but like that bug that just can’t be effectively squashed, this design has lept out from behind a piece of furniture to terrify us.

Ok, so I’m being a little dramatic, but this thing is hideous. It’s not even a design, really. It’s just a plain leather hobo with a bunch of crap stuck to it in a seemingly random assortment, and the only person I can imagine having real affection for it is someone who considers themselves a hardcore astrology buff. And if you do, well, here’s your bag.
